Jacq Wins for Labour in Bellingham
Bellingham residents gave a huge thumbs up to Labour’s Jacq Paschoud in yesterday’s Lewisham council by-election and relegated the Lib-Dems to third place behind the Tories.
Local health campaigner Jacq secured an outright majority of over 51 per cent over all parties in the election whereas the Lib-Dems’ vote plummeted to 15 per cent.
Mrs Paschoud said: “It’s an honour to be elected to represent the people of Bellingham. The message we have been hearing loud and clear from people on the doorstep is that they are opposed to the savage cuts imposed by the Tory and Lib-Dem government.
“They want us in the Labour Party to do our best to carry on maintaining good public services while protecting the most vulnerable.”
Chair of the Lewisham West and Penge Constituency Labour Party, Jacq joins her husband John Paschoud on Lewisham Council who represents Perry Vale Ward. The couple have 4 children and 3 grandchildren.
Mrs Paschoud, 55,has campaigned over many years in Lewisham taking a keen interest in education and health matters, particular the field of special needs education.
.
On the school governing bodies of Holy Trinity, Forest Hill and Meadowgate, Brockley, Jacqueline has been appointed temporary governor during the process of setting up a brand new Autistic Spectrum Disorder School in Downham.
The by-election was caused by the sad death of former Leader of the Council and long-standing councillor Ron Stockbridge.
