Forest Hill Pools Gets Go-Ahead
A brand new leisure centre at Forest Hill got the go-ahead at Lewisham's Planning Committee this month. The new centre will be the fourth new leisure centre in Lewisham in recent years following Downham Leisure Centre and Deptford's Wavelengths and the new leisure centre currently under construction at Loampit Vale.
The two pool centre has been subject to a lot of consultation after Mayor Steve gave the go ahead to begin designing a new leisure centre that incorporates the existing historic frontage. Cabinet Member for Community Services, Chris Best, thanked the Forest Hill Stakeholders Group and everyone else who contributed to the consultation.
Facilities in the new building will include a 25 metre pool, a 17 metre learner pool, gym, studios and a cafe. It's been a long process but we are all looking forward to swimming returning to Forest Hill in a first-class facility in the near future.
